Kevin Walker’s San Carlos Trip Report
We just got back from 11-days in beautiful San Carlos.
Thania and I went north for a couple of days. We wanted to get to the
kitchens but never made it since the winds clocked out of the s-sw to
the nw. Some cruisers made it north early under westerly winds and downwind
going back home to San Carlos. ...Very nice. Anyway, to get out of the
north westerly's at night (for anchoring) also resulted in the tide getting
us from the beam all night long, both nights. Lots of naps during the day
filled with dreams of little waves. We took the dog and all seem to enjoy it
when we got turned back to marina san carlos.
Came back Monday the 4th short one trailer tire.
It seems as though the new trailer tire on the right front brake axle decided to come off
at the lugs and the view I got as I looked back at the tire it was
careening into the median. I got the S-2 over and searched for that
tire and rim for over 2-hours before returning to the truck where
Thania, Susie-Q and I put on a spare.
The spare was secured to drum with 2-lug nuts from the other side and
2-lugs that I had in my tool-box as extra's. What kind of a nut has
extra lug-nuts. We got through the military drug stop with a wave and
stopped at the lantera in Benjamin Hill and dug through a 5-gallon
bucket to find three more lug-nuts. Repairs held and we made it home
but not without seeing and talking to John and Linda Mulays son Mat who
was working the US border crossing with his canine unit. We had a good
talk there waiting the 10-minutes to cross.
I am back working till the right knee surgery on June 19.
